저희 새생명교회는 주님의 지상 명령을 마음에 품고, 온 성도가 예수님의 참된 제자가 되어 그분의 사랑을 삶으로 살아내고자 애쓰는 믿음의 가족들입니다. 일리노이 어바나-샴페인 지역에서 낯선 이민 생활을 하시는 분들의 든든한 벗이 되고, 청년들에게 복음의 생기를 불어넣으며, 우리의 보배로운 다음 세대를 믿음으로 품어내는 건강하고 따뜻한 교회를 꿈꾸고 있습니다.
부르심과 목회 여정
제 삶의 걸음을 돌아보면 모든 것이 하나님의 세밀하신 인도하심이었습니다. 대학 시절 대학 캠퍼스 선교단체(중앙대 기독학생 연합회)를 통해 진정한 복음의 기쁨을 맛보았고, 그때 예수님을 제 삶의 구세주로 깊이 만나게 되었습니다. 그 벅찬 감격으로 목회자의 길을 걷게 되어, 한국 합동신학대학원에서 목회학 석사(M.Div) 과정을 마치고 중앙대학교회에서 7년간 귀한 성도님들을 섬겼습니다. 이후 2011년 도미하여 일리노이주 트리니티 신학대학원에서 교육학 석사(M.A)를 공부하며, 매디슨 한인장로교회, 시카고 헤브론 교회, 시카고 베들레헴교회에서 성도님들과 희로애락을 함께 나누는 목양의 훈련을 받았습니다.
새생명교회에서의 소망
2022년 6월, 하나님께서는 감사하게도 저를 이곳 샴페인 새생명교회로 부르셨습니다. 저는 지금 "진리 위에 사랑으로 하나 되어 성장하는 교회 공동체"를 세워가는 일에 기쁨으로 헌신하고 있습니다. 저희 교회가 어바나-샴페인 지역의 수많은 영혼들에게 영원한 생명이신 예수님을 전하고 참된 안식을 누리게 하는 따뜻한 축복의 통로가 되기를 간절히 기도합니다.
"내가 복음을 부끄러워하지 아니하노니 이 복음은 모든 믿는 자에게 구원을 주시는 하나님의 능력이 됨이라 먼저는
유대인에게요 그리고 헬라인에게로다" (로마서 1:16)
가족 소개
제 곁에는 언제나 든든한 기도의 동역자가 되어주는 사랑하는 아내 김지은 사모, 그리고 저희 가정의 큰 기쁨인 세 자녀 유하(Matthew), 유주(Madison), 막내 유림(Mark)이가 있습니다.

New Life Korean Church is a family of faith that holds Christ’s Great Commission close to heart. We desire for every member of our church to become a true disciple of Jesus and to live out His love in everyday life.
Here in the Urbana-Champaign area of Illinois, we hope to be a faithful friend to those adjusting to life as immigrants, to bring the life of the gospel to young adults, and to nurture the precious next generation in faith. Our prayer is to grow as a healthy and welcoming church community.
As I look back on my life, I can see God’s faithful and detailed guidance in every step.
During my college years, through a Christian campus ministry at Chung-Ang University, I experienced the true joy of the gospel and came to know Jesus deeply as the Savior of my life. With that joy and calling, I began my journey into pastoral ministry.
I received my Master of Divinity (M.Div.) from Hapdong Theological Seminary in Korea and served at Chung-Ang University Church for seven years. In 2011, I moved to the United States and studied for a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Education at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Illinois.
Over the years, I have also had the privilege of serving and sharing life with God’s people at Madison Korean Presbyterian Church, Hebron Presbyterian Church in Chicago, and Bethlehem Church in Chicago.
In June 2022, God graciously called me to serve here at New Life Korean Church of Champaign.
I am joyfully committed to building “a church community that grows together in love upon the truth.” My sincere prayer is that our church would become a warm channel of blessing to the many people of the Urbana-Champaign area—sharing Jesus Christ, who is eternal life, and helping people find true rest in Him.

Beside me are my beloved wife, Jennie Kim, who is always my faithful partner in prayer, and our three children, who are a great joy to our family: Matthew, Madison, and Mark.
